My aim was to build a graphic system to invite the novice users to learn about the notions of pitches, intervals and chords, by creating and manipulating visual forms. The system gives a visual representation in real-time of what is played on a keyboard.
Gérald Venturi is a musician, professor, and seasoned composer. His work is fed from long time by questions about representation. We have talk a lot about the practice of composition, its forms and vocabulary. My project has been supported and strengthened by our work together.
Difficulties with programing and short delays have led me to contact two software engineers, Julien Fernandez and Benoît Nicoletti. They offered me their time and talent. With them, the project has been brought up to new reflexion layers, as every move in the design asked new questions and needed new choices.
“Correspondance” is a collection of emails and chats that we had with Gérald, Benoît and Julien, from music practice to design, and software design.
